Nature Preserve Billboard

Challenge:

The Nature Foundation of Will County wanted me to create a Billboard for the nature preserve Hammel Woods. They wanted it to theme towards Hammel Woods main feature, which is walking paths, and to encourage people to get out into nature more.

Creative Solution:

I went to Hammel Woods and took photos and used one for the featured image. I created in Illustrator a path that goes in front of the image and wraps behind, pulling the viewer into the scene. I made a short tagline relating to walking, and then the name of the forest, cutting into the picture to give it more emphasis. On the bottom is some contact information with the clients logo. They did not want it too big, as it is not so important to them if peopel do not get it.

I used a simple sans serif for the tagline and info to compliment the slab serif typeface for the name. I wanted the name to be super bold and legible from a distance.

Proposal

The Vision:

To Capture him proposing to his girlfriend. He wanted an intimate and warm mood that brought out the candle light asthetic.

Creative Approach:

I brightened up the images just enough to be vivid and saturated, while keeping a deep contrast to enhance the candle light mood. I wanted a mixture of close up shots and wider shots that show their decor.
